Students in Kindergarten through grade 12 are invited to submit original stories for KASA’s Student Writing Contest.

Who can enter: Students in Grades K-5
Form: any appropriate form- memoir, personal narrative, informative, persuasive, etc.
Page limit: no more than 2 pages typed- double spaced with a 12-point font
Deadline: April 12, 2010
Prizes
1st Place: Read their entries at the KASA’s annual summer institute. Receive a $100 gift card and trophy, get to stay in the Galt House Hotel in Louisville overnight.
2nd and 3rd Place: Receive a certificate if excellence, $25 and $15 gift card, recognized at their school in an assembly.
KET Young Writers and Illustrators Contest Rules
Topic: Write a story- fact or fiction, prose or poetry.
Who can enter: Students in Grades K-3rd
Form: story
Special Information: Stories must have 5 original, clear, and colorful illustrations (eg. drawings, photographs, 3-D)
Must be created on one side of the paper and numbered on the back of each page.
Page limit: K-1st =minimum of 50 words and a max. of 200 words.
2nd-3rd =minimum of 100 words and a max. of 350 words.
All words count (yes, even “a”, “an” and “the”) but not the title or captions.
*Neatly printed or typed entries only.
Deadline: April 1, 2010
